Kona bound!

Well folks, I did it. Ironman Coeur d'Alene 2011 is in the books. And this little lady, she had a fantastic day! Everything about the day was great. My swim was great, my bike was really great, and my run was good enough. Before I go into details, finishing stats are as follows: Swim split 1:08 (a personal record) 15th out of the water in my age group; Bike split 5:47 (a huge PR) 6th place off the bike; Run split 3:44 (another PR) 3rd place at the end of the day. So 3rd in my age group, and so I'm told, 7th overall finishing female age grouper, and 12th overall finishing female including the pro field (starting 7 women I think). Overall finishing time of 10:47:07.

And 3rd in my age group not only puts me on the podium, but QUALIFIES me for a KONA SLOT.... which I'll be claiming at 9am this morning! The Ironman World Championships 2011 in Kona, Hawaii; there comes a time when fear and dreams much collide, and today (well yesterday) I made that happen!

So much to share about the day. It's not quite 5am and I'm wide awake, although my system is feeling a bit weak. Mostly I'm starving but that could just be lack of sleep hunger. Anyway, I wanted to post my stats. I'm going to try and force myself to get a bit more shut-eye before it's time to wake up. This is all very normal; typically the night after a race I can't sleep. After going to bed at 11:30, I woke up at 3am and have been unsuccessful at falling back asleep, so have been surfing the net.

Stayed tuned for race day reports.... today's going to be a busy day with awards banquet and a cook out this afternoon at Nicole's, but I won't keep you hanging too long. I will be back later this evening.
