Ten weeks from today, from right now, I'll be transitioning from the water onto the bike. Heading out of town to the Higgins Point turn-around, a nice little 13 mile warm-up before heading out for my first loop of Hayden Lake. Most likely my anxiety will be high but self-talk will be reassuring myself I've got this- I just need to focus on the game plan. Mean while, and all day long, I'm sure I will be checking out every lower leg that goes by, placing a target on those with the numbers 30-34 printed in black.
Ten weeks does not sound like a very long time. And especially considering three of those weeks will be "easy" and/or taper weeks. So I really only have like seven weeks of hard training left. There's no reason to waste time wondering about weather conditions, who my competition will be, and what their training looks like right now. I have to make the most out of my own focused training.
So it's finally a beautiful blue sky kinda morning. Temps are supposed to be near 50 this afternoon with mostly sunny conditions all day. Winds from the west 10 - 20 mph, not exactly ideal, but I'll take it. Yesterday was spent replacing a flat tire, ended up replacing tire and tube, and had to cut my workout short. So today will be spent out on the pavement, along that white line.
Looking forward to a solid ride, seeing just how far I can go in 4 hours. An important self-test. It will be a good day....
