"Spring"ing forward.

It's a Monday in April, about the middle of April, and life is just rolling right along. Never a dull moment as each day brings some sort of new adventure/life lesson, sometimes big sometimes small. It's been now 6 months exactly that I've lived this new chapter of my life. And with each day, I am even more proud to be pursuing my dreams and making the most out of life.
Now does that mean life is easy right now? Absolutely not. I've come to the conclusion that life may never be "easy". However that doesn't mean life isn't good. In fact, life is good- and seemingly difficult all at the same time. An odd sort of twist. I don't mind the challenge of finding balance (although exhausting at times). Not an ounce of boredom. But can be bit scary. But I might not be feeling as "good", if it wasn't for the never-ending support of family and friends I have near and far. For all of you I am grateful; I live this life in hopes of inspiring others to also make the most out of our time on earth.
So what's the latest with me?
Well, MCAT scores came in about a month ago. So I've checked that one off my list. My scores were not quite as high as I had hoped, but good enough to go ahead with confidence in feeling OK about submitting my applications. Applications will be submitted as soon after June 1 as I can manage.
Following fall quarter and completion of a cell/molecular biology course, I completed a genetics course winter quarter in which I really really enjoyed and did well in. For now, I'm done taking "additional" coursework. So I spend the majority of my time these days training  for IM and job searching. I've done quite well stretching my savings to survive while working only part time for minimal wage, however, here and now point blank- I NEED to find additional employment so that the bills can continue to be payed. Any day now one of the many places I've applied to is going to want to hire me... any day now...
And for training? Training is going very well. It's finally spring and the weather is slowly catching on. I am amazed how far I have come, and also so aware of how far I still have to go. I'm feeling real solid with my swim and run. I'm confident in my ability to complete the swim in a respectable time and good position (time wise) to begin the bike leg. And on the bike I have great strength still to gain. I've been working on endurance all winter long, and so I thought, strength as well. But evidently, I still have yet to really engage in the bulk of my "strength" gains on the bike. So according to my training plan, the next couple months will be geared towards strength. And my run is fine. I'm routinely running faster than I can say I've ever run in the past. Still need to enhance my ability to run off the bike, but I'll get there. As CdA Ironman creeps ever closer, training is becoming just that much more exciting. Still two months out, but race day anticipation is beginning to set it. That last Sunday in June, yeah, that WILL be a good day.
And then there's my latest coaching "jobs". As they're really stacking my weekly mileage a bit higher than may be ideal, it's great experience and I am really enjoying being a coach. Just a few weeks left of my Bloomsday Run training group at the Y- And until early June volunteering with the local chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Marathon Team in Training. It feels really good to be involved in multiple community organizations- awesome experiences.
So that's the big picture right now.
